My name is Alyssa Carbonara and I am a Chicago based fine artist. All through my life I was an artistic child, always focusing on drawing and I was always captivated by the different colors around me. When I was in high school I focused on taking college level AP studio and sculpture art classes and won multiple awards. When I moved on to college I decided to try following my other passion in life which is my animals aiming to go on a pre-veterinary track. However through my classes I realized that the only class I was passionate about was my art history class. I eventually ended up transferring twice to two different art schools. It was there that I began my training as a traditional fine artist focusing on color realism. As an avid equestrian and proud animal mom of an array of different critters, I kept my passion for animals and decided to make that the ultimate focus of my body of work. I worked as a freelance artist through my time in school on top of my studies doing commissioned photo realistic color renderings of various beloved pets. I ended up being featured in a nationally known artist showcase highlighting up and coming local artists as well as local show put on by another local artist. Through the pandemic and my second time transferring I realized that school was not the avenue that was suited for my journey. I took that time focusing on training myself in classic oil painting and expanding on my watercolor painting knowledge that was opened up to me in my academic studies. I created a wide array of large scale oil paintings reflecting my love for the natural world and the vibrant colors that surround us in various creatures. Upon the opportunity given to me by Emily, I decided to take on the journey of being an apprentice and ultimately being a tattoo artist myself. I work to translate my deep love for the natural world and the color surrounding us in the beautiful flora and fauna and immortalize it forever on people’s skin.
